Amazing eBook on 5 proven ways pornography warps your mind and 3 biblical ways to renew it. It’s focus is geared towards men, but the three biblical tips are universal.
Just wanted to share some recent revelations about life and the topic of new year’s resolutions. I am quite the goal maker myself, and always have a list of things I want to accomplish by a certain date. I find that it keeps me running, busy, and excited. Some things to note that I realized in selfishness lately which I hadn’t been doing was to focus on bringing glory to God with my dreams and desires. God’s plans for me are MUCH bigger than any petty thing I could come up with. My priority needs to be to remove all distractions and focus on Him and His redeeming power in all areas of my life. We can do all things through Christ, and Proverbs 21:31 reminds us that victory ‘rests with the Lord’. All I want is to live a life reflective of the new self, Ephesians 4:24 “..and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.” Colossians 3:5-10
Here are three things that I found success with:
1a) Read Read Read the Word. Saturate yourself in it. If you don’t understand something, pause, and reread in smaller segments.
1b) Look for cross references in your Bible, if you don’t have a Bible with cross references get one. It will make a world of a difference. You will see multiple passages across the Old and New Testament of the one you just read.
2) MEMORIZE MEMORIZE MEMORIZE. I can’t stress this enough, the more verses you keep in your heart and mind, the more you’ll be able to recite to ward of any temptations.
3) Tell someone. Confess this sin, and the addiction. Don’t go into detail. Pray for the right person to tell and use them to follow up and remain accountable to your actions.
