Verse Cards.

Sometimes you have to admit….you’re lazy. You can’t be bothered to pick up your Bible at 6AM, especially when you have to be ready for the day by 7AM. But, howcome? This is the King that gave the ultimate sacrifice to have union and fellowship with us!

My action plan against laziness is to FORCE the Word of God to penetrate my heart and mind. Hebrews 4: 12 says, For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

I make little cue card bible verses, and basically trap myself into reading His Word. Make these cards nice, coloured, use construction paper, get creative! Put them up on the wall, bulletin board, or door so that each time you walk by, you read them OUTLOUD. Let the power of His words shake you as you recite them, and aim to memorize each one. When you are done memorizing them, put a little sticker next to the card.

Here’s a starting list..

1 Thessalonians 4:3 It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God;

Ephesians 5:3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.

1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. 19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

Psalm 119:9-10
How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.

Psalm 119:11
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Matthew 4:1-3
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

Matthew 6:13
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Matthew 26:41
Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.
