Another year is ending, and as we’re all relaxing from dinners, family get-togethers, and the like this would be a good time to stop and take the time to reflect on the year ahead and the year that’s coming to an end.
In a few hours I will be leaving to go to Kansas City, MO for the onething conference at the International House of Prayer. Prior to this September I had never heard of IHOP, or the conference, and honestly, I feel nervous, anxious and excited. I hope God will be able to penetrate my inmost thoughts and the deepest and darkest parts of my heart. I want to give everything to Him, especially my 2012 year.
17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
19 The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.
My prayer: Lord, even though the fig tree doesn’t bud, or there are no grapes on the vines, I pray that you be my sustenance. Be my source of life, breath, and strength. I pray that I turn to you, that I turn to a living and loving God, and not the lies of Satan. Help me Lord, for your strength is made perfect in my weakness.
11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
Some things that speak to me from these verses: God wants us to offer EVERY part of ourselves; instead of offering ourselves to sin, the second half of the verse reveals that instead, we should offer ourselves to God, like thos who have been brought from death to life. The final verse in this “chunk” is also written in a statement-like way, sin shall no longer be our master, because we are under grace.
Slaves to Righteousness
15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! 16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. Romans 6:11-17
My Prayer: Lord, I come to you knowing that without you I am an instrument of wickedness. May you wake up other aspects of my life and hold me up to your holiness, that I may reflect you, my Master. I pray that I become a slave to Righteousness for your glory! In Jesus name, Amen.
This site was made with the sole purpose of women all over the world identifying with this shocking, and exponentially growing statistic. You are NOT alone if you struggle with a pornography addiction. My vision is that you not only find comfort in connecting with others, but also to press forward and experience the same tangible victory that God provides to those that eagerly desire it. It’s yours for the taking!
